What is sinus lift?

The maxillary sinus is located in the upper jaw next to the teeth. If a tooth has been missing for a long time, the bone becomes too thin.

During a sinus lift, the surgeon:

• Creates a micro-window in the bone
• Carefully lifts the Schneider membrane
• Fills the bone material underneath it
• Covers the area with a collagen membrane

After 4–6 months, new bone is formed into which the implant can be reliably integrated.

    Sinus lift is a procedure to increase bone volume in the upper jaw when there is insufficient bone for implant placement. It allows for safe preparation of the foundation for future implant placement.
    No. The procedure is performed under high-quality anesthesia, so there is no pain during the procedure. Mild discomfort or swelling may occur after the surgery, but this is normal and will quickly resolve if you follow your doctor's instructions.
    On average, healing and bone formation takes 4-6 months. The exact timeframe depends on the size and individual characteristics of the patient.
    In some cases, yes. If the clinical situation allows, sinus lift and implant placement can be performed in a single stage. The final decision is made after a CT scan.
